Are you sick of all the ridiculously poor-quality videos of Colin and company on You Tube?

Well, our collective dreams are about to become reality.

The Decemberists will be releasing a DVD on Kill Rock Stars on March 20, 2007.

It's called The Decemberists: A Practical Handbook and it features the band live at the Roseland Theater in Portland, OR from 11/4/05 as well as the documentary Paris Before the War, and multiple music videos, etc.

Colin mentioned the cartoonist Tony Millionaire in his Christmas list.

What are your favorite past gifts?
A piece of original art by (cartoonist) Tony Millionaire.

Millionaire is a cartoonist of an assortment of off-beat characters and a very unique style.

Here’s his web-site

And a great interview, with biographical info:

For two issues now Colin Meloy has written a sidebar in Rolling Stone Magazine. Here is this month's installment!

Colin Meloy

What’s on your wish list this year?

A dehumidifier for my studio.

What are your favorite past gifts?

A piece of original art by (cartoonist) Tony Millionaire.

What gifts do you plan to give?

When I worked at a bookstore, everyone on my list got books- Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood is essential reading. Now that I’m in a rock band, they still get books, with a Decemberists T-shirt thrown in.

How much will you spend?

I tend to think anything over fifty dollars is a little crass- except for one’s girlfriend, for which there is no limit.

Where do you shop?

I try to buy at local Portland (Oregon) shops as much as possible. Powell’s Books, Reading Frenzy and Jackpot Records are my favorites.

Do you ever buy more stuff for yourself?

A little bit here and there. I always end up buying left-handed presents for my girlfriend. Half the non-lady-stuff presents I buy for her end up in my possession anyway.
